Divisions

Most Chamber initiatives are conducted at the divisional level and then presented to the full board for discussion/approval. Our Chamber is comprised of five divisions, with various committees organized within the divisional structure. Currently constituted divisions are listed below, with areas of responsibility:

Finance/Executive Division:
This division is responsible for oversight/management of the chamber’s operations and financial position. Financial oversight is accomplished through review and approval of the annual budget prepared by the Executive Director (ED), as well as a monthly review of financial statements and related variance analysis. Operational oversight occurs through timely discussion of chamber issues, periodic review of personnel and other policy manuals, the by-laws, and formation of nominating committees.

Committees: Nominating

Marketing & Promotions Division:
This division is responsible for development and coordination of the chamber’s marketing efforts. This includes branding and messaging through various appropriate media, especially the chamber Web site. Also inherent in their focus is civic beautification and the buy local campaign. Finally, M&P has general oversight of the chamber’s events and festival activity.

Committees: Beautification, Buy Close By, Waterfront Festival, Shipwreck Day, Jazz Festival

Membership:
This division is responsible for ensuring that the membership value is optimized through development, maintenance, and communication of a quality membership plan. As such, all aspects of member benefits and pricing are reviewed. An annual survey is produced, conducted, and evaluated and appropriate enhancements made. A key element of this effort is the chamber’s ambassador group, which is instrumental in various events.

Committees: Ambassadors

Economic Development:
This division initiates strategic reviews of Anacortes—its infrastructure, key economic drivers, and perceived trends. A key by-product of this effort is the Futures Project report, available elsewhere on our Web site. Inherent in this review is optimization of the city’s economic base through appropriate policies and the recruitment of desired employers.

Committees: Futures Project

Governmental Affairs:
This division educates membership and the board on important governmental activities which affect member businesses. This is done through liaison with city and state government, facilitated through chamber and industry trade associations (Association of WA Business, WA Chamber Execs, etc.) This division provides regular legislative updates to membership and organizes chamber response to items of particular interest.
